A Delhi Police head constable allegedly shot himself dead on Saturday inside a PCR van in the Civil Lines area. A senior police official while talking to news agency PTI said that the police got the information about head constable Imran Mohammed's death on Saturday at around 6:25 am. 


Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said that the PCR van in-charge in Civil Lines Police Station had shot himself with his service pistol. "Imran was rushed to Bara Hindu Rao hospital where he was declared brought dead," PTI quoted Kalsi as saying.


While talking about the incident, DCP Kalsi said that Imran shot himself on Bela road near Chandgi Ram Akhara when his colleague and the PCR driver Atul Bhati had gone to use the washroom.


As per Delhi police, the district crime team has been called to inspect the incident.


In another similar event, another Delhi Police head constable shot himself dead on January 26 with his service pistol inside Paharganj police station, reported PTI.


A senior police official while talking about his death said, "Head constable Devender, posted in jaguar team of Delhi Police's central district shot himself at 3.30 am. A suicide note has also been recovered in which Devender has stated that he took the extreme step due to personal reasons."

The official further said that the proceedings under section 174 CrPC (which deals with suicide) were conducted. The post-mortem was conducted at the Lady Hardinge Medical College and the head constable's body had been sent to his native place in Haryana's Sonipat. 


In another similar case, a 47-year-old Delhi Police head constable shot himself dead with his service pistol inside the Prasad Nagar police station in west Delhi last year September, 


A senior police officer confirmed the incident and said that the deceased, a warrant branch in-charge, had shot himself with a service pistol. The officer added that no suicide note had been found on him, the officer said.


The officer further said that the deceased is survived by his wife, and their daughter and son. As per the deceased's family, he had been depressed for around a year, reported the Hindustan Times.


The deceased talked to his family on video call before taking this step however he did not give any hints about his decision to end his life.
