A video of a Delhi Police personnel being tossed in the air after being hit by an SUV in the Connaught Place area surfaced on Friday. The incident happened on the intervening night of October 24-25. The driver of the SUV has been detained and action was taken against him, ANI reported.


The video shows the Delhi Police constable checking a vehicle near a checkpost in the Connaught Place circle. Soon, a speeding SUV hits him front on and the cop is tossed in the air several feet before landing on the busy road. The SUV also hits the vehicle standing near the checkpost and is seen driving through the barricades.






The constable, who suffered injuries to his leg and head, was taken to a hospital, NDTV reported. As per the report, police said the driver of the SUV tried to flee the spot but was arested after traffic police personnel gave chase and caught him.


In another incident of road rage earlier this week, a 41-year-old home guard was killed when a van rammed into a Delhi Police vehicle in Dwarka's Baba Haridas Nagar.


Assistant sub-inspector Mahesh Kumar and home guard Dharampal were on duty on the Najafgarh-Bahadurgarh Road when a pickup van hit their vehicle, leaving both injured, PTI reported. They were rushed to a nearby hospital but Dharampal was declared brought dead.


In September, a sub-inspector on patrol was killed in a hit-and-run case on National Highway 9 in in East Delhi's Pandav Nagar. The sub-inspector was inspecting a truck when a Honda Amaze came and hit the cop and the driver. SI Gangrasaran (54) succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A 39-year-old senior executive at an American business services company, who was driving the Honda Amaze, was arrested a day later.


A similar incident happened in July when a Delhi Police inspector died after his car was hit by a truck in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area. Inspector Jagbir Singh had stopped his car due to some mechanical problem when it was hit by the speeding truck from behind, killing the cop and his driver PTI reported.
