Four individuals, including two MBBS students, were arrested for allegedly operating a cheating ring for NEET exams, police reported on Saturday. The case came to light on May 5 when a student’s biometric data did not match during the NEET exam at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan Mehta Vidyalaya in the Tilak Marg area, police said, as reported by news agency PTI. Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla stated that the two proxy students, Sumit Mandoliya and Krishan Kesarwani, were apprehended at the exam center.






Due to the seriousness of the crime, the case was handed over to the Special Staff of the New Delhi District. A specialised team led by Inspector Sanjay Kumar Gupta was formed to investigate, DCP explained.

During interrogation, Sumit Mandoliya and Krishan Kesarwani, both MBBS students, disclosed the names of their handlers—Prabhat Kumar, 27, and Kishor Lal, 37—arrested from a hotel in Noida on Friday.


The officer highlighted that Kumar and Lal are residents of Rajasthan and Bihar, respectively. Both work as medical school admissions consultants and used to charge Rs 20 to 25 Rs lakhs from the aspirants to provide them proxy students for the NEET exams.

In order to create a new digital image to be pasted on the form, they would also combine the images of the original students and the proxy. The officer claimed that this assisted them in deceiving the examiners.


Another officer revealed that Mandoliya and Kesarwani who belong from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, respectively, are MBBS students from different colleges. Mandoliya, from Rajasthan, is a second-year MBBS student in West Bengal, while Kesarwani, from Uttar Pradesh, is a first-year MBBS student in Uttarakhand, he stated.


The police have found four cell phones and a Kia Seltos car. Further police informed that the accused were questioned again to find out if they had taken any prior exams. An inquiry into the situation is in progress.
