A fire broke out in a room situated on the sixth floor of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) building at Metcalfe House in the Civil Lines area of north Delhi on Friday afternoon, the Delhi Fire Service officials informed. According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officials cited by news agency PTI, a call was received at 12:12 pm about the fire in the building of DRDO in Civil Lines.


Every employee left the premises as soon as the fire broke out in a meeting hall on the sixth floor. Further, the officials informed that 12 fire tenders were sent to the spot and the fire was extinguished by 1 pm.


No casualties were reported in the incident, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.


Delhi: 6 Dead In Fire At Pitampura Building


In a separate incident, on Thursday evening, a fire broke out in a multi-storey building in northwest Delhi’s Pitampura area where six people were charred to death and one was injured.


At 8:00 p.m., a call regarding the fire at Pitampura's Plot No. 37, ZP Block, was received, prompting the deployment of eight fire tenders. With the assistance of the local police, seven individuals were saved and sent to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital. Four ladies and six others had been declared dead at the hospital, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said, reported PTI.


Another DFS officer said, "the fire was doused in an hour and the cooling operation was underway."


According to PTI, a police officer stated that "the fire broke out on the first floor of the building and the smoke engulfed the three floors above it."


As per preliminary information, the victims were from two different families, ranging in age from 25 to 60, he further said.


The Delhi Fire Service stated that the cause behind the fire that broke out on the building's first story is still unknown.
