Anti-Smog Guns Used To Combat Delhi Pollution As Air Quality Deteriorates To ‘Very Poor’ — WATCH

Overall air quality in the national capital of Delhi has declined to the'very poor' category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 306 on Sunday afternoon, while the circumstance in Gurugram is in the 'Poor' category with AQI at 283 and air quality in Noida in the 'Very Poor' category with AQI at 308, news agency ANI reported. 

According to SAFAR, the air quality surrounding Delhi University was 330 (extremely bad) around lunchtime, while Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal T3 was 313 compared to 276 in the morning hours. In Mumbai, the AQI in Andheri was 101, while the AQI at Borivali was 111. Other locations, like as Colaba and Mazgaon, had'moderate' air quality, with AQI readings of 180 and 156, respectively.

To combat pollution, the Commission for Air Quality Management subcommittee has already implemented an 11-point action plan in accordance with Stage-II of the updated GRAP throughout the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR).

Speaking with ani, a worker at the Rapid Rail construction site said: "We operate the anti-smog guns 4-5 times a day so that there is no inconvenience to the passers-by...This prevents dust from rising up in the air and spreading...We can sense a change in the air. The weather has changed and we can sense a burning sensation in eyes and nose..."

According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Environment, under GRAP-2 restrictions in the Delhi NCR, there will be a ban on the use of coal and wood-fired stoves, an increase in the frequency of CNG and electric buses, regular cleaning of roads and water sprinkling, and traffic police will ensure there are no traffic jams to reduce pollution.

On the other side, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has threatened to impose a construction moratorium anywhere, whether it is a private site or a government project, if dust and pollution control measures are not implemented in response to Mumbai's deteriorating air quality.
