As New Year's Eve preparations begin, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday announced that exit from Rajiv Chowk metro station will be prohibited after 9 p.m. on December 31. However, no restrictions on entry have been imposed on commuters from the aforementioned station. Taking to X, DMRC stated: "As advised by the police authorities, to ease overcrowding on New Year's Eve (31st December 2023), EXIT from Rajiv Chowk Metro station will NOT be allowed from 9PM onwards. However, entry of passengers will be allowed till departure of last train from Rajiv Chowk Metro station."






Passengers will be permitted to enter the Rajiv Chowk metro station till the last train departs on December 31. DMRC also asked commuters to arrange their routes appropriately.


Meanwhile, metro services on the remainder of the metro network will continue to operate on a normal schedule.


Delhi Traffic Advisory


The Delhi Traffic Police issued a warning outlining traffic restrictions in and around downtown Delhi. The advise states that no motor traffic shall be permitted in the inner, middle, or outer circle of Connaught Place save for individuals carrying valid passes.


The limits will be in effect beginning at 8 p.m. on December 31.


According to the advise, limited parking space will be provided near Connaught Place on a first come, first served basis. Improperly parked automobiles will be towed and prosecuted, according to the statement.






According to authorities, the Delhi Traffic Police will deploy 2,500 people to guarantee smooth vehicle flow on New Year's Eve, and 250 squads will be charged with checking for drunken driving, PTI reported.


On the eve of the New Year, police will be extra vigilant in Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Hauz Khas, and South Extension markets, among other places, and adequate personnel will be deployed in areas where high footfall is expected, and traffic movement will be regulated accordingly, officials added.
