DCW chief Swati Maliwal on Tuesday wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah about a Delhi govt officer accused of raping a minor girl. In the letter, Maliwal demanded that she should be allowed to meet the minor girl or her family, news agency ANI reported.
She further demanded that the medical treatment of the girl should be done in AIIMS or a team from AIIMS should see her and an inquiry should be conducted on the delay in the arrest of the accused govt official by Delhi Police.
Since Monday, DCW Chief has been sitting on dharna at St Stephen's Hospital, where the minor girl allegedly raped by a Delhi government official has been admitted. Maliwal claimed that she was prevented from meeting the girl.
However, a police officer stated that the girl's mother did not want to speak with anyone because the victim is still being monitored, PTI reported.
According to the Delhi Police, Premoday Khakha, a deputy director in the city government's women and child development department, raped the girl many times between November 2020 and January 2021. His wife is accused of giving the girl medication to end her pregnancy. On Monday, Khakha and his wife Seema Rani were apprehended.
On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed the chief secretary to suspend the guilty official.
The officer is not entitled to leave the department headquarters without prior authorization throughout the suspension time, according to the ruling.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi, Rani was brought before a court on Monday and placed in judicial custody, while Khakha would appear in court on Tuesday.
