MCD Elections 2022: Delhi is voting today on December 4 to elect the members for the 250 wards of the city’s civic body. While the state election commission and other agencies are trying to assist voters to help them vote easily, several complaints have come forth regarding the non-availability of the polling booth.
Yes! You read that right.
Voters of Delhi’s West Patel Nagar have complained of not being able to find their polling booths for hours due to which they could not cast their vote. They said that they searched for their booths for over two hours but finally returned without using their right to franchise in the MCD polls.
Election Mismanagement
Disappointed voters have blamed the authorities for the mismanagement of the election. One of the West Patel Nagar voters claimed to have wasted hours to find his polling booth but all in vain.
Another claimed to have visited many polling booths with his child but couldn’t find his polling booth. He said that no one has any idea about his polling booth. While his wife has voted, the man couldn’t vote.
A woman voter said that over 20 members of her family have cast their vote but some members just could not find their booth. They kept looking for their booth for 2-3 hours and then returned home without voting. She said, “How will we cast vote if there is no place to vote?”
Youth On Election Management
The youth who have come out to vote have also registered their displeasure over election preparation. One young voter said that earlier the election commission app used to give proper information, but now the app information is also wrong like it used to be in the paper system.
He said that there used to be a way to conduct elections, people are getting late for their offices, and students are waiting to go for tuition, it should not have been done this way.
Voting for the municipal corporation of Delhi is underway and the results of the poll would be declared on December 7.
