Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has moved Delhi High Court seeking interim bail citing medical grounds for his wife’s health. The Aam Aadmi Party leader was arrested on February 26 by the Central Bureau of Investigation on charges of corruption in the implementation of now-scrapped liquor policy 2020-2021 in the national capital. The probe agency alleged Delhi government's excise policy to grant licences to liquor traders favoured certain dealers, who had allegedly paid bribes for it.
He was subsequently placed under arrest by the Enforcement Directorate as well on March 9 in a money laundering case related to the same case. The matter later reached the Supreme Court, where Sisodia challenged his arrest. However, the top court refused to entertain his plea and asked him to approach the Delhi High Court first
On April 25, Sisodia was named as an accused in the case for the first time in the chargesheet filed by the CBI. Butchi Babu, auditor of Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader K Kavitha, Arjun Pandey and liquor trader Amandeep Dhal were also named in the chargesheet.

The former Deputy CM last month urged the Delhi High Court to grant him bail saying no evidence was found to show his involvement in the case and that he was being singled out.
Meanwhile, The Enforcement Directorate has been allowed to further question the statement of former Aam Aadmi Party communication in-charge Vijay Nair and Buddy Retail Pvt Limited director, Amit Arora in judicial custody in connection with the excise policy scam. Both are presently lodged in Tihar Jail.
ED has got court permission to further record their statement on any two days this week. The probe agency had approached the court and asked permission to examine the two.
