The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) prediction forecasts that on Saturday, the national capital might have a light downpour followed by thunder and lightning, with a high temperature that is projected to reach 30 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall over the last three days has prevented the temperature from rising sharply. The city saw a hint of rain even on Friday, and the high temperature was 28.5 degrees Celsius, three degrees below average. The lowest temperature at the time was 16.8 degrees Celsius.
The capital saw 0.1 mm of rain in the nine hours leading up to 5.30 p.m., according to IMD. Between 100% and 56%, the relative humidity varied.
The meteorological department has forecast a typically gloomy day with very light rain and a few isolated thundershowers for Saturday.
"The maximum and minimum temperature would be around 30 and 15 degrees Celsius, respectively," the IMD was quoted by PTI in its report.
On Thursday, the nation's capital was battered by a thunderstorm and strong winds for the second straight day.
On Thursday, the main weather station in Delhi, the Safdarjung Observatory, recorded 5.8 mm of precipitation between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., while the Palam Observatory recorded 1.1 mm, and the weather stations in Lodhi Road, Ridge, and Ayanagar, respectively, recorded 7.6 mm, 4.5 mm, and trace amounts of precipitation.
Delhi Logged 'Good' To 'Moderate' Air Quality On 35 Days In First Quarter Of 2023: CAQM
According to statistics provided by the Commission for Air Quality Management, Delhi recorded "good" to "moderate" air quality on 35 days in the first quarter of 2023, the most in the equivalent period in six years, with the exception of 2020, when a coronavirus prompted a rigorous lockdown (CAQM).
According to the statistics, there were 17 days with "good" to "moderate" air quality in the first quarter of 2017, 24 in 2018, 32 in 2019, 38 in 2020, 13 in 2021, 27 in 2022, and 35 in 2023. The national capital's air quality index for the past 24 hours was 73 on Friday, which is the lowest reading since October 11 of last year when it was 66.
