New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party on Monday demanded sacking of Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena over the death of a 20-year-old woman in Delhi who was killed after being dragged by a car for a few kilometres in national capital's Kanjhawla area of Sultanpuri. "I could not sleep in the night thinking that it could have been our daughter...and the LG says that his head hangs in shame. I think he should be dismissed from the office," said AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj.
"I demand from the Centre that LG Vinay Saxena should be immediately sacked," he added.
AAP is preparing to corner the Centre-appointed Lieutenant Governor over the issue as it will be laying a siege around the LG's residence on Monday to protest the "weak" law-and-order situation in the national capital, reported PTI.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Durgesh Pathak said women are not safe in the city.
"The national capital is becoming a crime city. Our sisters and daughters are not safe in Delhi. And the LG has left the responsibility of law and order to do politics. At 2 pm on Monday, we will gherao the LG's residence in protest over the weak law-and-order situation," Pathak said in a tweet in Hindi.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also condemned the incident as "shameful" and said that the culprits should be "punished severely.
"What happened to our sister in Kanjhawala is very shameful. I hope that the culprits will be punished severely," he said in a tweet.
Five men were arrested in connection with the womnen's death.
