Delhi News: Delhi's Rouse Avenue court will hear Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's petition to provide insulin in jail at 2 PM on Friday, the Aam Aadmi Party said. Kejriwal is currently under judicial custody in Tihar jail in connection with the money laundering probe related to the Delhi Liquor Policy case.

Ramesh Gupta, the lawyer for Kejriwal in the liquor policy case said, "We have moved a petition requesting the Court to allow Mr Kejriwal to consult his doctor who has been treating him for the last many years. But that request was opposed by the Jail Superintendent through a lawyer, even ED opposed and the matter is fixed for Monday for orders. They (the jail authority) will submit a reply tomorrow. 48 times food was delivered to him (Arvind Kejriwal) in the jail and only three times a small mango in a small container was there. But they are trying to make it an issue... They say we are monitoring and he says my BP is fluctuating, even crossing 300. Therefore he needs immediate insulin."

This comes a day after the Enforcement Directorate told the court that Kejriwal was deliberately eating mangoes, sweets and taking tea with sugar to raise his blood sugar level and use that as a ground to get bail on medical grounds. The Delhi court sought details of the diet chart of the Aam Aadmi Party national convenor from Tihar Jail authorities.

Counsel appearing for ED, Zoheb Hossain submitted before a bench of Special Judge Kaveri Baweja that in the guise of home-cooked food, Kejriwal was taking a diet that would raise his blood sugar level. The court was hearing a plea by Kejriwal for regular check-ups of his sugar level and consultation with his doctor through video conference.
