A Delhi cop was booked for allegedly driving drunk and then hitting several vehicles. According to a PTI report, the incident occurred early Sunday morning on the Daryaganj-ITO road in central Delhi. One of the cars the policeman hit was a taxi driven by Ramesh, who testified that his car was hit by a man named Mohit, who later turned out to be a Delhi Police head constable. The taxi driver said that he was with a passenger and was driving towards ITO at the time when a Maruti Suzuki Baleno car hit his taxi and drove away towards ITO. 


A senior police officer while speaking to PTI, said when a team of police reached the spot, the taxi driver, Ramesh was there. Ramesh told the police, that the driver of the Baleno, identified as Mohit had hit his taxi from behind resulting in some minor damages.


The officer added that Ramesh did not want to file any police report.


"We got information that a car hit a taxi. Our team reached the spot and the driver, Ramesh, of the taxi, was found there. Enquiries were made by the taxi driver, who stated that the driver of another vehicle, identified as Mohit, had hit his taxi from behind resulting in some minor damages. He did not want to file any police report," a senior police officer said.

The officer told PTI, that Mohit is the head constable in Delhi’s Special Cell. 


"An action under section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act has been taken against him," said the officer.


Mohit had hit at least three other vehicles around 2 AM, reported PTI, citing sources. 


Another officer, while speaking to PTI said, that further investigation was on and “if anyone is found guilty” then strict action will be taken against them. 


"We are further investigating the matter and if someone is found guilty, strict action will be ensured. We are also checking CCTV footage of the entire incident," the senior police officer said, as per the news agency.
