New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Sunday asked people in Delhi to vote for I.N.D.I.A bloc in the Lok Sabha polls so that their voices can be heard in Parliament and assured that inflated water bills will be waived off if the alliance's candidates are elected. Speaking at a protest organised by his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against inflated water bills here, Kejriwal said that he should be given the Nobel Prize for running the government despite the alleged hurdles created by the BJP.
"If you choose the I.N.D.I.A bloc this time, Delhi will have its own defence armour and nobody can trouble the people then... No LG will then be able to harm the people of Delhi since we'll have a strong representation in the Parliament", PTI quoted CM Kejriwal as saying.
CM Kejriwal of Delhi has called upon the people of the capital city to throw their support behind the I.N.D.I.A bloc in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing the need for robust representation in Parliament. Speaking at a protest organized by his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against inflated water bills, Kejriwal criticized the lack of attention given to Delhi's genuine issues by the current elected MPs, reported PTI.
Promising swift action if AAP candidates secure the seven seats in Delhi, CM Kejriwal assured that incorrectly inflated water bills would be waived off within 15 days of the elections. He urged residents to stand firm against these faulty bills, offering his support in defiance against the BJP officials, as per PTI.
The AAP and the Congress, both members of the I.N.D.I.A bloc, have solidified their electoral arrangement in Delhi, agreeing to a 4-3 distribution of parliamentary seats. According to this arrangement, the ruling AAP will contest four out of the seven parliamentary seats in the national capital. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal highlighted the pressing issue of inflated water bills affecting approximately 11 lakh families in Delhi, underscoring the urgency of addressing this concern.
"The AAP government is your government. Had the BJP been in power, it would have disconnected the water supply. Those who have received inflated water bills, they do not need to pay them", CM Kejriwal remarked.
"We made a scheme to settle water bills. BJP people stopped the scheme through the LG. Officers are literally crying and saying they have been threatened with suspension if they bring the scheme to the Cabinet", Kejriwal alleged.
Kejriwal, with a touch of humor, quipped that his efforts in governing Delhi deserved a Nobel Prize. However, he emphasized that the real prize for him lies in the love, support, and faith bestowed upon him by the people of Delhi. This sentiment reflects Kejriwal's dedication to serving the citizens and his gratitude for their unwavering trust, reported PTI.
Delhi CM reassured the people of Delhi that he would ensure the implementation of a one-time settlement scheme to address the issue of inflated water bills. He accused the BJP of harboring animosity towards the residents of Delhi for consistently electing the AAP to power. Kejriwal asserted that the BJP's actions were motivated by a desire for revenge against the people's choice of a common man as their chief minister.
He also accused the BJP of running a smear campaign for years. “I can assure you that they (BJP) will certainly pay for their sins. God is watching them, and their swollen ego will soon be shattered, just like the Ravana's. Everyone has to reap what they sow, Kejriwal said.
Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP demanded that the AAP government issue zero water bills to those with disputed bills. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva alleged that Kejriwal has raked up the water bill settlement issue just to divert public attention from his government's alleged corruption, reported PTI.
CM Kejriwal needs to understand that people of Delhi know it very well that the Jal Board is inundated with scams and installation of air flow water meters has caused the problem of few lakh consumers getting excessive bills, he said.
