Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Will Not Participate In Protest Against Centre's Ordinance On July 3

Aam Aadmi Party's main spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj stated at a press conference that copies of the ordinance will be burnt across the national capital's 70 assembly seats.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the top leadership of the AAP would not join in the rallies and agitations against the Centre's Ordinance on the Delhi government on July 3 because the subject is now before the Supreme Court, news agency ANI reported.

Earlier today, Aam Aadmi Party's main spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj stated at a press conference that copies of the ordinance will be burnt across the national capital's 70 assembly seats, news agency PTI reported. "On July 3, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, cabinet ministers and all the MLAs will burn copies of the black ordinance at the ITO party office," he stated.

"Then on July 5, the copies of the ordinance will be burned across all 70 parliamentary constituencies. Between July 6 and July 13, the copies of the ordinance will be set on fire at every nook and corner of Delhi. The seven vice presidents will ensure that they are burned in every area of Delhi," Bhardwaj, a minister in the Kejriwal cabinet, was quoted by PTI in its report.

Bhardwaj accused the Centre of attempting to seize "illegal" control of Delhi via the "black ordinance." The party's seven vice presidents, Dilip Pandey, Jarnail Singh, Gulab Singh, Jitender Tomar, Rituraj Jha, Rajesh Gupta, and Kuldeep Kumar, were present at the news conference when the announcement was made.

On June 11, the party held a maha-rally against the ordinance.

The Centre issued an order on May 19 to establish an authority for the transfer and posting of IAS and DANICS officials in Delhi, which the AAP government condemned as a violation of the Supreme Court's decision on control of services.

The ordinance, which was passed a week after the Supreme Court gave the elected government of Delhi control over all services except for police, public order, and land, aims to create a National Capital Civil Service Authority to handle transfers of Group-A officers and disciplinary actions against them.

Prior to the Supreme Court's decision on May 11, the Lieutenant Governor exercised executive authority over all officer transfers and postings within the Delhi government.
