New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, who is currently lodged in Tihar jail after being arrested for his alleged connection with the Delhi excise policy case, met his ailing wife on Saturday, news agency PTI reported.

The former deputy chief minister of Delhi was allowed by the court to meet his wife for six hours between 10am to 4pm.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal shared a photo of Sisodia hugging his wife as he leaves his house to return to jail.

CM Kejriwal shared the photo on his X handle and wrote, “This picture is very painful. Is it right to do such injustice to a person who gave hope to the poor children of the country?”

According to the PTI report, during the time Sisodia spent with his wife, he lighted diyas on the occasion of 'Chhoti Diwali'. However, he did not interact with the mediapersons gathered outside his residence.

Accompanied by police personnel, Manish Sisodia reached his Mathura Road residence on a prison van around 10 am and returned to the jail after meeting his wife.

Earlier in June, the senior AAP leader was granted permission by the Delhi High Court to meet his wife Seema, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. However, Sisodia could not meet her as she had to be hospitalised after a sudden deterioration in her health condition.

It is to be noted that Sisodia was arrested in February this year over his alleged connection with the Delhi liquor policy “scam”. Since then, all his bail pleas have been rejected.

Recently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had summoned CM Kejriwal over the ongoing probe in the case. However, he skipped the summons, saying they were “politically motivated”.
