New Delhi: A wall of a house collapsed in Delhi said on Wednesday, leading to the loss of one life and leaving another individual injured. The incident took place in Kotla Mubarakpur in Gurudwara road around 5 pm, prompting swift rescue efforts from authorities.
According to news agency ANI, authorities started a rescue operation as some persons are feared to be "buried under debris". After recieving information, seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
Police said around 5 pm, information was received regarding collapse of a building on Gurudwara road. "On reaching the spot it was found that during pulling down, a wall of first floor of a house fell down wherein Vinay (32) died on spot. While Nathu (30) received injury and Anand who went to fetch tea was fortunate to escape," police said. Further details are awaited on the incident, reorted ANI.
PTI cited an officials as saying, local residents and police came together to rescue the trapped individuals from the debris, and rushing them to the hospital for medical attention.
During inquiry, it was found that the house was under dilapidated condition and the three labourers were razing the structure, a police officer said, as reported by the news agency.
Anand, one of the laborers, had stepped out to purchase tea when the wall collapsed. The deceased, Vinay, hailed from Bihar's Samastipur, and is survived by his wife and three children, while Nathu, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Banda, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, as per PTI.
The police officer noted that a case is being filed against the house owner under sections 288 (negligent conduct in pulling down or repairing buildings) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), reported PTI.
