Delhi on Wednesday reported 1149 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours while the positivity rate stood at 23.8 per cent. As per the data released by Delhi health department, one death was reported.






The tally was 200 higher than Tuesday's 980. This time the latest spike is the highest since August 20, when it had reported 1,109 fresh cases.


According to the Delhi health department bulletin, one COVID-19 fatality was reported in the nation's capital. However, it also stated that COVID-19 was not the most common cause of death. 26,546 people have died as a result of the virus all together.


There are currently 3,347 active cases in the national capital, while the total number of cases is 20,17,250. In the last two weeks, there has been a sharp rise in the number of H3N2 influenza cases in the country, which has led to an increase in the number of new Covid infections in Delhi. The number of new cases had dropped to zero on January 16, the initial time since the flare-up of the pandemic.


In response to an increase in the number of cases in the national capital, mock drills were carried out at hospitals in Delhi to assess their readiness to combat COVID-19.


The Tuesday mock drill was part of a national exercise to assess how prepared hospitals are to deal with the increase in Covid cases. The fact that both public and private facilities are anticipated to participate in the April 10 and 11 exercise had already been made public by officials.


Cases In Maharashtra


The single-day Covid include in Maharashtra crossed the 1,000-mark on Wednesday with 1,115 new cases, while nine patients capitulated to the disease during the day, the health department said.


An official stated that the state had recorded 1,076 cases on September 8 of last year, indicating that the single-day case count had reached 1,000 for the first time in seven months.


With the new cases, the state's Coronavirus count rose to 81,52,291 and cost to 1,48,470.


The state had recorded 919 cases and one fatality as of Tuesday.


Mumbai recorded 320 new cases and two fatalities, trailed by 93 in Pune city that saw three deaths.


Vasai-Virar region in Palghar's neighboring district and Akola district each had one fatality, while Thane city had two. The case casualty rate in the state is 1.82 percent.


In the last 24 hours, 560 patients recovered from the infection, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 79,98,400. The state's COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.11 percent.


The department reported that there are currently 5,421 active cases in the state.


In the last 24 hours, 16,439 tests were administered in the state, bringing the total number of tests administered in the state to 8,67,40,146.
