The Centre has given clearance to Delhi Education Minister Atishi for her official visit to the United Kingdom next week, reported PTI. The government informed the Delhi High Court that Ministry of External Affairs has granted the clearance on Tuesday. However, Atishi's lawyer said the clearance was given by the MED on Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, the counsel for the Centre said the proposal has been sent to the economic affairs department for further approvals, which would also be processed and the petitioner can apply for requisite visa permits, reported PTI.

On the clearance, Centre’s lawyer told Justice Chandra Dhari Singh, “It was given yesterday. Political clearance was granted. No need for any direction.”

According to PTI, the lawyer appearing for the petitioner said she is scheduled to travel to the UK from June 14 to 20.

Notably, the AAP leader has informed through her petition that she has been invited in her official capacity by the Cambridge University to speak at a conference titled 'India at 100: Towards Becoming a Global Leader' to be held on June 15.

The Centre and Delhi government have been at loggerheads on many occasions on the issue of Delhi ministers travelling abroad.
