Arvind Kejriwal Gets 4th Summons From ED In Delhi Liquor Policy Case

This comes after Arvind Kejriwal missed interrogation on January 3, claiming that the summons issued by the ED were unlawful and that the only goal was to arrest him.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for questioning for the fourth time. He has been summoned to testify before the investigation agency on January 18. This comes after Arvind Kejriwal missed interrogation on January 3, claiming that the summons issued by the ED were unlawful and that the only goal was to arrest him.

Kejriwal has previously cited Rajya Sabha elections, Republic Day festivities, and the Enforcement Directorate's 'non-disclosure' and 'non-response' approach as grounds for not appearing for interrogation before the probe agency.

Earlier, in a letter to the ED assistant director, Kejriwal stated that the Election Commission of India has chosen to hold Rajya Sabha elections from the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Nominations began on Wednesday, and voting will begin on January 19, he said.

The National Capital Territory of Delhi has been given three Rajya Sabha seats, and the mandates of the incumbents would expire on January 27, he stated. Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, claimed he was held up due to the election campaign. 

This was the third time he had questioned the summons' legality through a letter and avoided interrogation. Kejriwal said it was a "matter of concern" that no answer was received to the two previous letters written to the agency.

CM Kejriwal, also the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) president, has previously declined to appear before the investigative agency on November 2 and December 21.

In April, the AAP chief was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the matter, but he was not charged.

Since the initial summons was issued by the Enforcement Directorate, there has been widespread speculation that the Delhi chief minister will be detained after being questioned by the agency. Several AAP leaders have also published remarks along these lines.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was detained in February in connection with the matter, while AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was arrested in October.
