Delhi Police on Thursday arrested a woman, accused of beating up and burning with tongs a seven-year-old girl in the RK Puram area. While her son, who is also an accused in the case, was arrested and sent to judicial custody, the lady was on the run.
The accused woman works as a nurse at Safdarjung hospital. Her husband's role in the crime is also being investigated, reported news agency ANI.
Delhi Police while talking to ANI said, "The accused woman who was absconding in the case was arrested by the police on Thursday. Her son was already arrested by the police. The accused nurse works at Safdarjung hospital. Her husband's role is also being probed."
The RK Puram police station had received a complaint in the case on February 10, after which an FIR was registered and the accused son was arrested on Monday. The girl’s body bore marks of burns and knife cuts, ANI quoted the police official as saying.
In another similar event, a Gurugram couple was arrested for allegedly torturing and sexually abusing a minor domestic. The police began a search on February 9 for the placement agency through which the girl was employed.
The public relations agency for which the woman worked and the insurance company where her husband was employed announced their termination on Twitter.
On February 10, an official of the Jharkhand Bhawan in Delhi also visited the girl in the hospital, reported news agency PTI.
According to Pinky Malik, the in-charge of Sakhi centre through which the girl was placed to work in the couple's house, the couple used to force her to work and also beat her every day
According to the police, after arresting Manish Khattar (36), and his wife Kamaljeet Kaur (34), on February 8, they discovered several bruises on the minor's hands, feet, and lips.
