Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh, who recently walked out of jail after nearly six months, said on Wednesday that it is "ridiculous" that a meeting between a Chief Minister and an MP with our party supremo has been cancelled. His remarks came after hours after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at Tihar Jail was called off due to "security concerns". Notably, the meeting was originally scheduled; however, permission was later revoked, and a new meeting time will be determined by prison authorities.

In an interview with ABP News, Singh on Wednesday claimed that the Modi government aimed to suppress Kejriwal, who has been elected thrice with significant mandates.

He added that the jail officials are working under "pressure" from the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"It is ridiculous that a Chief Minister and an MP's meeting with our Chief Minister has been cancelled, although the token number has been allotted. The jail officials are under pressure from the Modi administration. What a significant question this action has raised," Singh told ABP News.

He further accused the Centre of employing "authoritarian measures" against arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Likening the Centre's actions to those of Hitler, Singh alleged, "There were plans to convert Tihar Jail into a gas chamber by putting restrictions on Arvind Kejriwal's communication rights, including the denial of meetings with family and lawyers."

Expressing concerns, Singh told ABP News, "During the meeting with his lawyers, Arvind Kejriwal gave a message through them that the elected MLAs should go to their areas and work. An investigation has been initiated into this message and threats are being made that your meetings with lawyers and family will be stopped."

He further questioned whether Tihar Jail was being turned into a "torture chamber".

"Can't Arvind Kejriwal sit in jail and get any information, can't get information about his family, can't meet lawyers?" he said.

"Even in legal meetings, eight to ten police officers surround the lawyers, despite the fact that the law states that no one is permitted to listen to the lawyers during the meeting. Do you want to convert Delhi's Tihar Jail into Hitler's gas and torture chambers? Can't a Chief Minister send a message to his MLAs?" he continued.

Asserting that the Centre's efforts to undermine the Delhi CM would fail, Singh said, "The people of Delhi would respond through voting".
