Following a Special Cell's investigation into the bomb threat case at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road it was revealed that a 16-year-old student of the same school sent the threatening email as a prank. During the counseling of the student, he said that a few days back similar kind of email was sent to another school in Delhi. The student said that he played this prank on the school administration based on the previous case.
DPS received an email on its official mail ID on Tuesday night which said that a bomb has been planted inside the school. The school informed Delhi Police about the bomb on Wednesday morning. Bomb Disposal Squad, Dog Squad, and the SWAT team reached the spot to find the bomb. However, during the search, no suspicious object was found on the premises. Post the search, Delhi Commissioner of Police South East, Rajesh Deo while talking to news agency ANI said, "The situation is normal. Bomb Disposal Squad, Dog Squad and SWAT team sanitising the school buildings."
This was the second instance of a school in the city receiving a bomb threat in a month after a similar incident occurred in Sadiq Nagar's Indian School on April 12. The school received a similar threat in November 2022 through an e-mail stating that an explosive was planted on the school premises. The bomb and dog squad were called and the school was evacuated. However, nothing was recovered the officer believed that someone had pulled a prank.
Earlier in September, the Spring Dale School in Amritsar received a bomb threat on social media, prompting school officials to file a police report. The threat was made four days after a similar threat was issued to DAV Public School, which was eventually revealed to be a prank by three school students. On the evening of September 12, a message on social media stated that there will be a blast at Spring Dale School on September 16.
