Guwahati: A murder case, similar to Delhi’s Shraddha Walkar murder case, has left the people of Guwahati in shock. A woman killed her husband and mother-in-law, before chopping them into pieces, and then storing their body parts in a refrigerator. The incident came to light late on Sunday night, seven months after the murders took place.

The incident, which took place in Guwahati’s Noonmati area, is believed to be a result of an extra-marital affair that the accused, Bandana Kalita, had with her paramour.

She has reportedly confessed to committing the heinous crime, police sources told ABP Live. According to a preliminary investigation, the accused first killed the mother-son duo, chopped the bodies and then stacked the body parts in a refrigerator. Three days after the incident, the accused dumped the body parts of her husband Amarjyoti Dey, and mother-in-law Shankari Dey, near Meghalaya’s Dawki, bordering Bangladesh, police sources said.

Her paramour Arup Deka and another accomplice Dhanjit Deka, had reportedly helped her in committing the crime. Both the deceased were reported missing since August 2022.

The Noonmati police have arrested the trio and are currently interrogating them to trace the body parts and tools used in the crime.

A similar incident, that took place in New Delhi, had rocked the whole nation in November last year.

A youth killed his live-in partner after a fight in May 2022, chopped her body into pieces and then stacked them into a refrigerator and later dumped the body pieces in various parts of the national capital in a few weeks.

The accused, Aftab Poonawalla, was later arrested following a missing complaint lodged by the father of the deceased Shraddha Walkar (26).
