The CCTV footage of the murder of gangster Tillu Tajpuriya in Delhi's Tihar Jail on Tuesday morning has now emerged. The video shows Tajpuria being stabbed 40-50 times with a sharp weapon. Tillu Tajpuria was killed by four members of the notorious Gogi gang. Tajpuria was an accused in the shooting at Rohini court in 2021, in which gangster Jitendra Gogi was killed.

After the attack, the injured Tajpuria was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A senior prison officer said that the 33-year-old Tillu Tajpuria, who was lodged in a ward on the ground floor, was attacked at 6.15 am by four inmates of the Gogi gang. The attackers — Deepak alias Teetar, Yogesh alias Tunda, Rajesh and Riyaz Khan — were locked on the first floor of the same ward.

Prison officials suspected that the assailants cut two iron bars on the first floor cell of the high-security ward and put them back there to avoid suspicion. He also said that before the attack he removed these bars and he came down with the help of a bedsheet. Officials said that at the time of the attack, the cells had been opened for head count.

Sources said that when Tajpuria saw the attackers, he ran to the cell of another inmate named Rohit. Rohit tried to save Tajpuria by closing the door of his cell, but the door could not be latched from inside. The attackers barged in and dragged Tajpuria to the courtyard. Rohit was also injured during this.

He said that within two minutes, the assailants killed Tajpuria. Jail personnel rushed to the spot and caught the four attackers. They took Tajpuria to the jail hospital, from where he was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital around 6.45 am. A prison officer said that Tajpuria had 40 to 50 wounds on his body.
