New Delhi: Pune police on Monday arrested wanted accused Santosh Jadhav and Navnath Suryawanshi in connection with a murder case of 2021 in Pune, news agency ANI cited officials as saying. Santosh Jadhav is also a wanted accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. Earlier, Sourav Mahakal an accomplice of Santosh Jadhav and a suspect in the Moosewala murder case was also arrested on June 8.


Santosh Jadhav has been arrested in a case where he is accused of murdering one Omkar Bankhule last year, he was absconding since. The accused had been booked under the MCOC act registered at Manchar Police station in Pune district. 


"Santosh Jadhav and Navnath Suryawanshi arrested from Gujarat last night. We have their remand till June 20. Further probe to be done including their links with Lawrence Bishnoi's gang and in the murder of Punjabi Singer Siddu Moose Wala," Kulwant K Sarangal, ADG, Law & Order said on Monday.



Sidhu Moosewala, popular Punjabi singer and Congress leader, was shot dead by assailants in Jawaharke village of Punjab's Mansa district on May 29. The incident took place a day after his security was withdrawn by the Punjab police among 424 others. All three arrested accused are in police custody till June 20, ANI reported citing officials.


Notably, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil on Sunday said that the probe into the murder was being looked after by police teams from 4-5 states. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad was also keeping an eye on the matter, Walsa added, reported news agency PTI. 


The Delhi Police recently said gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind behind the murder, adding that six shooters have also been identified for their alleged involvement in the killing of Moosewala. The singer's death was an organised and brazen killing, the Delhi police had said.
