One man was shot dead and another was wounded in an attack in the Danapur locality in Patna, Bihar on Saturday evening. According to the police, the shooting occurred in Pethiya Bazaar which comes under the jurisdiction of Danapur Police Station.


While speaking to PTI, inspector Bhanu Pratap Singh, informed that Gorakh Rai succumbed to his injuries and Dahi Gop who was critically injured was referred to Paras Hospital for treatment. Inspector Singh said that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called and some cartridges were recovered from the crime scene. The victims were targeted while returning from a cremation ceremony.






According to IANS, Dahi Gop was the primary target of the attackers, while Gorakh Rai sustained gunshot injuries after getting caught in the shooting and was killed.


The district police conducted raids to apprehend the assailants.


Further investigations are underway to uncover the motive behind the attack.


In Muzaffarpur, another firing incident occurred on Saturday, in the Sahibganj police station area, a youth named Mahesh Paswan was targeted. He was shot in his mouth. Paswan’s family alleged that he was shot by liquor traders operating in the area.


According to IANS, he was admitted to the hospital in critical condition. The motive behind the attack was under investigation.


In a separate incident, an individual named Chotan Pathak who was recently released from jail in an assault case, allegedly climbed onto the house of a painter, Akhilesh Thakur, and shot him. The incident occurred at Ambara Chaube Tola, under the jurisdiction of Saraiya police station, as per IANS. Following the incident, Pathak went into hiding, and the police were conducting raids to locate and apprehend him.
