An Indian-origin US woman was allegedly raped at a five-star hotel in Delhi's Chanakyapuri by a private company's chief executive officer, as per details provided by a police official to IANS. Based on the complaint from the NRI victim, an FIR has been lodged at the Chanakyapuri police station under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, as per IANS's report.

A senior police official said, "She has alleged that on September 14, 2023, the incident of sexual assault happened with her by the accused in a five-star hotel of the New Delhi district."

The 40-year old victim, who denied to be named, approached the police in January and told them that she had been raped last year by the accused.

The victim worked as an Assistant General Manager at a company where the accused was the CEO. The complainant and the accused knew each other before the incident happened. He had helped her get the job and was her uncle's acquaintance, added IANS.

The police official further stated that the investigation is underway on the basis of evidence available on record.

In another horrific case that happened last year in November, a woman was forced to drink alcohol and gang-raped in a homestay in Agra, where she worked. She was beaten by the accused and a glass bottle was also broken on her head.

Five people including a woman were arrested for their involvement in gang-raping the 25-year-old victim.

After getting informed about the crime, the police were charged with rape and murder charges. A case under Sections 376 (rape), 307 ( attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code was filed against them. Additionally, they were also charged with sections 7 and 8 of the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act.

The accused had been blackmailing her on the basis of an objectionable video of hers that they had made earlier.
