New Delhi: A Nigerian man on Wednesday suddenly attacked with a knife, injuring at least eight persons near the Churchgate area of south Mumbai, said police, as reported by news agency PTI. According to the official, the incident occurred at Tata Garden close to Parsi Well in the evening when John pulled out a knife and attacked passersby. The incident took place around 4 pm today and the attacker was an addict. All those injured in the knife attack have been admitted to GT Hospital, said police.
The police were cautioned about the incident, following which a group overpowered the attacker and incapacitated him, he said.
John was sitting with a woman in Tata Garden at around 4.30 pm on Wednesday. He got into an argument with a woman while intoxicated. After the argument, John attacked eight people in the Tata Garden with a sharp weapon suddenly.

On getting information about the incident, top police officials reached the spot and arrested the attacker.
Accused John was also injured in the attack admitted to the hospital and is undergoing treatment. The exact reason for the attack is not yet clear. Azad Maidan Police has arrested a woman.
Further investigation, in this case, is underway.
