A Class 9 student in Mumbai, Maharashtra, was detained on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 3-year-old child. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) based on a complaint filed by the toddler’s father. 


Sakinaka Police said the minor accused would be presented in court later in the day.


Minor Raped By Agriculture Department Officer


Rape of young children has become a daily constant in headlines. 


On Tuesday, an Agriculture Department Officer (ADO) in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr was arrested for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl and committing bestiality.


According to police, the incident took place on Monday at the house of the victim, a Dalit. 


The accused has been identified as Gajendra, 57, a resident of village Rasulpur, a police official told news agency ANI. 


Speaking to ANI on the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shobit Kumar said, "On 12th August 2024, at around 10 pm, information was received at PS Ahmadgarh that a person namely Gajendra of village Rasulpur had gone to the house of an acquaintance in a village during the day and there he found the acquaintance's daughter alone and molested and raped her, he also misbehaved with a goat. In this regard, a case was immediately registered and the accused has been arrested. Legal action has been taken against the accused..."


The accused has been booked booked under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act, POCSO Act, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and relevant sections of te Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said.


Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar said the entire act was caught on video by a child who was standing nearby.
