K'taka Man Chops Off Woman's Nose After School Kids Pluck Flowers From His Garden

A man in Belagavi chopping an anganwadi woker's nose who intervened when he tried to hit children who has entered his garden and plucked some flowers.

A middle-aged man reportedly severed the nose of an Anganwadi worker after a dispute broke out between the two over the children plucking some flowers from his garden. The incident unfolded in Basurte village in Belagavi district of Karnataka, the police confirmed on Wednesday, according to a PTI report. The accused, identified as Kalyani More, was enraged to see that children from the state government-run Anganwadi childcare centre entered his garden and plucked flowers. According to The Indian Express, the man tried to hit the child when Sugandha More, 50, intervened.

This led to a heated altercation between the two. As the argument escalated, the man attacked the Anganwadi worker with a sickle and chopped off her nose. The victim was bleeding profusely which led the blood to enter her lungs, she was rushed to the hospital where her condition remains critical.  

According to a report by The Hindu, her husband is physically challenged. A case has been registered in the Kakati police station. The police have launched a search operation for the accused, who is currently evading authorities and remains at large.

This comes weeks after a 49-year-old resident of Vantamuri village was dragged outside and stripped naked on December 11. She was paraded naked and tied to an electric pole and was assaulted after her son eloped with a girl from the village. The family members of the girl, infuriated by this, tortured the boy's mother.

The widow's 24-year-old son, according to authorities, was in love with an 18-year-old woman. Her family had planned for the woman's marriage to another guy on December 11. However, the pair had fled before the intended engagement ceremony. The police have detained 11 persons in the case and are on the lookout for others.
