Four months after the death of Ekta Gupta, CCTV footage of where she was last seen has been found. The footage shows Ekta Gupta speaking to her alleged killer, the gym trainer, Vimal Soni.
In the video, the victim can be seen entering in her workout clothes carrying a gym bag, and holding her mobile phone. She seemed to be arguing with her gym trainer, following which he killed her. The footage has clarified that Ekta Gupta was in the gym before her murder.
She was the wife of a businessman in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The gym trainer, Vimal Soni, who was arrested for allegedly killing her, provided the exact location of where he had buried her body. The accused trainer had buried the body near the District Magistrate's home, police said.
DCP East, Shravan Kumar Singh said, "The incident occurred on June 24. The victim used to go to the accused's gym to train...The victim was particularly displeased about something and had a heated argument with the accused, after which the latter murdered her and buried her here... He dug a pit here and buried her body... He tried to mislead the case but when we interrogated him strictly, he revealed the truth."
The police started searching for the gym trainer but there was information about Soni’s whereabouts for the past four months. But after an intense search, they found him in the city.
When the husband, Rahul Gupta, approached the police on suspicion that Soni might have kidnapped Ekta by giving her intoxicants mixed in a protein shake. The police then scanned CCTV cameras in railway stations, bus stands and hotels in search of them in June.
It is alleged, that Ekta and Soni were on good terms but when the woman came to know about Vimal’s engagement, she was upset. Allegedly, the two argued in his car which is when he hit her on the neck which killed her.
