New Delhi: A woman who allegedly strangled an 11-year-old to death in Delhi and stuffed his body in a bed box is still absconding as police continue to search for her, news agency PTI reported citing a police official. A senior police officer said that several teams are working on the case and raids are constantly being conducted at her possible hideouts.

According to the official, technical and manual surveillance are being checked to arrest the woman who is the prime suspect in the incident. The motive of the murder will be ascertained when the suspect - Pooja gets arrested, as per the police.

Police on Thursday received information around 8:30 pm from BLK Hospital that a boy was brought dead and had strangulation marks on his neck.

As per the initial investigation, the accused Pooja was known to the boy's family and had even visited their house in the past, however, they had a feud over some issues. The accused came to the victim's house when his mother was not there and allegedly committed the offence, police said, according to PTI.

“I was returning home from my office when I received a call from my son’s teacher that he did not come to the class. When I reached the home, I found it was locked from the outside. I opened the lock, went inside and saw that the whole house was ransacked and some items were lying on the bed,” PTI quoted the victim's mother as saying.

The police official said that the victim's mother searched the entire house for her son and noticed that the mattress on the bed was not in place. When she opened the bed box storage, she found her son lying there lifeless, police said.

Soon after, she rushed her son to BLK hospital where he was declared dead.

A murder case has been lodged at Inderpuri police station and the body has been sent to RML Hospital for post-mortem, Deputy Commissioner of Police (west) Vichitra Veer had said on Friday.
