A woman allegedly shot at her 20-year-old younger sister on suspicion of her being in an extramarital relationship with her husband, said the police on Thursday, said the Delhi police on Thursday. The incident took place in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park, they added. Sumaila, a resident of the Shastri Park’s Buland Masjid reported to the police that her elder sister Sonu (30) tried to shoot her dead with a country-made pistol around 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast), Joy Tirkey, said, as per a PTI report.
Sonu also hit her sister several times on her head with the gun butt after the pellets hit Sumaila’s face, he added.
The police official said that Sumaila sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Sonu suspected that her younger sister Sumaila had an extramarital relationship with her husband, he said.
A case has been registered at the Shastri Park Police Station under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act, the report added.
Sonu has been arrested and further investigation is underway, they added.
