New Delhi: A 33-year-old woman in Delhi died by suicide after her live-in partner allegedly forced her to undergo abortion nearly 14 times in a span of eight years. It was alleged that he had physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage. As per the police, the victim's body was found on July 5 in the Jaitpur area in Southeast Delhi. An FIR has been lodged under sections amounting to abetment of suicide and rape, as reported by The Times Of India.
The victim was shifted to a hospital where the doctor declared her brought dead. Deputy Commissioner of Police Esha Pandey said that they were handed over the suicide note and the viscera by the doctor.
The suicide note revealed that she was in a relationship with a man named Gautam Kumar Singh, who indulged in a physical relationship with her on the pretext of getting married.
According to a report by The Hindu, the senior police officer said the deceased had mentioned in her note that she was in a relationship with a man who had physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage and made her undergo abortion 14 times by giving her medication for the same. The note further said that before the incident, the couple had a heated argument over getting married, and upon refusal by the accused, the woman took her life as there was “no other option left”.
On further inspection, the police recovered a mobile phone of the deceased and found that she was separated from her husband for around eight years.
"The stool used for hanging and the deceased's mobile phone were seized. After preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that the woman had been living separately from her husband for the past seven-eight years," Pandey said, as quoted by The Time of India. The claim of undergoing 14 abortions was still being verified by the police.
Abetment Of Suicide
The accused, who reportedly works for a software company, has been been booked by the police on charges of abetment of suicide and rape.
On July 5, a PCR call was made to the police reporting a woman's suicide in Jaitpur. A police unit was rushed to the location where the woman was discovered hanged at a residence.
The woman was taken by ambulance to AIIMS where she was pronounced dead, The Hindu reported DCP (Southeast) Esha Pandey as informing.

Victim Harassed By Her Husband
The deceased's brother disclosed that his sister also had an unhappy marriage and she was being constantly harassed by her husband and his family since 2006, the report mentioned. The husband was said to be an alcoholic and she had two daughters with him, aged 12 and 14 years. The daughters live in a hostel in Delhi due to financial constraints.
Even after being repeatedly called back to Patna, the victim did not leave Delhi due to her daughters’ education.
“We kept calling her back to Bihar because we were aware her mental health might deteriorate, but she refused,” her brother said, as quoted by The Hindu.
The deceased's brother claimed that he had no idea about her relationship with her live-in partner.
