New Delhi: A rape case has been registered against Sonia Gandhi's personal secretary PP Madhavan at Delhi's Uttam Nagar police station. Madhavan is accused of raping a 26-year-old woman on the pretext of a job and marriage. At present, the police is investigating the matter after registering an FIR and a case under IPC section 376 (rape) was registered, said officials as reported by news agency PTI. The husband of the woman had died in the year 2020. After his death, the woman was looking for a job and at that time she came in contact with PP Madhavan.
According to the officials, "the woman lives in Delhi and her husband died in 2020. The husband used to work at the Congress party office, they said, adding that he used to affix hoardings."
"A complaint was received at the Uttam Nagar police station on June 25. A case under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered. We are investigating the matter," said M Harsha Vardhan, Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The complaint states that Madhavan, 71, wanted to marry the woman. He tried to have a physical relationship with the woman without her consent.

"After my husband’s death in February 2020, I began looking for a job and got in touch with Madhavan. He first called me for interview. He used to make video calls and chat with me on WhatsApp," she claimed as reported by India Today.
"He took me to an isolated location near the Uttam Nagar metro station and forced himself on me inside his car. In February 2022, he took me to a flat in Sundar Nagar and forced himself on me without my consent," she further alleged.
"Allegations have been leveled at a 71-year-old man who is working as a personal secretary to a senior political leader," the police told India Today TV.
