New Delhi: A head constable of Delhi Police was arrested for the alleged murder of a woman constable who had gone missing two years back, news agency ANI reported. According to the report, the Special CP (Crime) said the accused wanted to forge a relationship with the victim, who considered him a father figure. He wanted to marry the woman and after she threatened to expose him to her family, the senior colleague allegedly killed her, the police officer said, as reported by ANI.


“She (the victim) used to consider him (the accused) a father figure. But he wanted to forge a romantic relation with her. He wanted to marry the woman. She got uncomfortable over his proposal and threatened to expose him in front of her family,” ANI quoted Ravindra Yadav, Special CP (Crime) as saying.






He further said that investigation revealed that on the day of the incident, the accused told the woman he would take her to his house. He then took her to an isolated place and strangulated her.


“On the day of the murder, he told the woman that he would take her to his home. He took her to an isolated place and strangulated her. Our team carried out the investigation and traced the number from which he used to make calls,” the officer said.


The officer said the accused befriended the woman and allegedly misguided her over several occasions. He also asked his brother-in-law to make fake calls to her family. The accused has been arrested after two years and the skeletal remains of the victim have also been recovered, police said, as reported by ANI.

Our team did a good investigation, and finally, he was arrested. We called the forensic team and recovered the skeletal remains,” Special CP (Crime) told the news agency.
