The Delhi police have confirmed a significant development in the case of the alleged murder of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)'s son. On Sunday, the authorities revealed that they had discovered the body of the missing son from a canal in Haryana. Simultaneously, they have taken the primary suspect, Vikas, into custody.

According to news agency ANI, the police stated, "The body of the deceased was recovered from a canal in Samalkha, Haryana. Today, the main accused, Vikas, was also arrested."

They also informed about the recovery of the vehicle involved in the murder of ACP's son.

According to the police, on January 23, 2024, the ACP's son was allegedly killed by two of his friends; Abhishek, one of the accused, was taken into custody an hour later. A charge of abduction was filed at the Samaypur Badli Police Station after his murder.

According to the report of Deccan Herald, police stated that the body of the ACP's son was allegedly thrown into the canal by two men, including a clerk working with a lawyer in the Tis Hazari Court, while he was returning from a wedding. Further, they added that 26-year-old Lakshya Chauhan had gone to attend a marriage function in Haryana's Sonepat on Monday along with two of his friends -- Vikas Bharadwaj and Abhishek on Thursday. When he did not return home the very next day, his father Yashpal Singh, who is posted as ACP (Operations) in Outer-north Delhi, lodged a missing complaint on Tuesday.

During the course of their inquiry, they were suspicious of possible foul play and changed the complaint into an abduction formal complaint, an official stated, as per the report. After 19-year-old Abhishek, a resident of Narela, was detained and interrogated, the police added Section 302 (murder) of the IPC to the FIR, which was initially filed at Samaipur Badli police station as an abduction case.
