A man has been detained in connection with the murder of his wife and two minor daughters in Rajasthan's Jaipur, police said on Monday, as reported by news agency PTI. The accused has been identified as Amit Yadav. He works in a factory. Station House Officer Kardhani Uday Singh said that Amit Yadav (40) hit his wife Kiran (33) and elder daughter Priya (11) on the night of November 17 while they were asleep, killing them on the spot.
Later, Yadav slept with his younger daughter Riya (6) in another room in his house in Jaipur. The next day, he roamed around his house with Riya. He killed her in the same manner in the early hours of November 19 and fled, the SHO said, as reported by PTI. The family's neighbours informed the police after a foul smell started emanating from their house. Police personnel broke open the door and found the bodies inside the house, he added.
Yadav was traced by tracking the location of his mobile phone. He has been detained and is being interrogated, Singh said.
In another incident, days after a policeman was shot dead in Lucknow, his wife and brother-in-law have been arrested for the killing, a police officer said on Monday, as reported by PTI. Satish Kumar, the 42-year-old policeman posted with the Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC), died after being shot at his house in the Uttar Pradesh capital on Diwali night.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vineet Jaiswal said five teams were formed to crack the case and after gathering manual and technical evidence, the two accused were arrested on Sunday. The police officer said Kumar's brother-in-law Devendra Verma, 35, is the main accused and wife Bhavna Singh, 40, is the co-accused.
"The illegal pistol used in the crime has been recovered. The clothes worn by the accused person on the night of the incident and the cycle used in the crime have also been recovered," Jaiswal said, as quoted by PTI.
