Chopped body parts of a woman have been recovered near a flyover in Delhi's Geeta Colony. Police have reached the spot and efforts are on to identify the woman. An investigation has been initiated into the matter.

"Two black polythene bags have been found. One polythene contains the head of the body and the other polythene contains other parts of the body. On the basis of long hair, we are assuming that it is the body of a woman. It is yet to be identified, probe underway," Paramaditya, Joint CP, Central Range, said.

Though it is prima facie a woman about 35-40 years old, ortho forensics will verify the facts, officials said.

"Remains of a person have been found in two different places near Geeta Colony flyover in the Yamuna Khadar area. The FSL and crime teams have reached the spot. Prima facie, it is a body of around 35 to 40-year-old person," Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi told PTI.

Joint Commissioner of Police (central range) Parmaditya said police were informed about the body around 9.30 am by a local.

"We found two polythene bags under the Geeta Colony flyover. In one of them, we found the head, while the second bag had other body parts," he said.

It is being presumed that the body is of a woman because of the long hair, Parmaditya said.

"The body is in a decomposed condition and it is not clear whether the bags have all the parts. The victim is yet to be identified. A post-mortem examination will be conducted," he added.

Chopped Limbs In Bucket, Boiled Body Parts In Cooker: Mumbai Murder Case

A few months back a 32-year-old woman was murdered and chopped into pieces, allegedly by her 56-year-old live-in partner at their rented accommodation in Mumbai's Mira Road.

The murder was discovered by the police after neighbours of the Geeta Akash Deep Building Flat J-704 complained of an unbearable stench. According to sources, 56-year-old Manoj Sane allegedly killed his live-in partner Saraswati Vaidya (36) and then chopped her body into pieces. He put the small pieces in buckets and kept the blood. A tree-cutting machine (similar to a saw) was also found in the bedroom.
