A California man was arrested for allegedly beheading his 1-year-old son, Northern California officials stated. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office informed in a statement on Friday that deputies were told in an early morning family disturbance call that a woman outside a home alleged that her husband Andrey Demskiy, 28, assaulted her and her mother.

Upon reaching the northern Sacramento County residence, Deputies tried to contact Demskiy who refused to answer the door. They then got to know that a 1-year-old boy was inside the house and there were chances of him being injured. Following the information, deputies forced entry and tried to detain Demskiy, who resisted, authorities said, as per LA Times.

They recovered a “severed child’s head” in the bedroom while Demskiy was being taken into custody, news agency AP reported.

According to detectives, Demskiy beheaded his son with a knife after his wife and mother-in-law left the house. It was informed that the suspect is not eligible for bail and would be appearing in court on Tuesday.

LA Times citing authorities and jail records reported that Demskiy was booked on felony charges of murder, assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, and corporal injury on a spouse. He was taken to the Sacramento County Main Jail after his arrest.

The woman and her mother were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said that detectives were dispatched to the scene with the sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau. Their probe ascertained that Demskiy was involved in a domestic violence incident with his wife and mother-in-law and that once they exited the home, he beheaded his son.

The deceased victim was not officially identified.
