The bullet-riddled body of a man was found on a field in a village in Haryana's Sonipat district on Sunday evening. He was wanted in a criminal case. According to the police, the body of the man, who hailed from Faridkot district in Punjab, was found lying in a field in Harsana Kalan village, as reported by PTI.
"The bullet-riddled body of a criminal identified as Deepak Maan was found from the fields of Harsana Kalan," Station House Officer of Sadar police station Karamjeet said, as quoted by PTI.
Dy SP Sonipat Jeet Singh said that information was received about a body lying in a field and search operation was taken immediately after reaching the spot. "We received info that a body is lying in a field. Immediately after reaching the spot we took up the search. We have found a 'kada' on which there is something engraved in Punjabi language. We are trying to identify the body and also coordinating with the Punjab Police... There is a bullet injury on the head and stomach area... Further, we can provide more info after the post-mortem reports... A probe is underway," Jeet Singh said, as quoted by ANI.
The SHO said a case has been registered against unidentified persons in connection with the incident and efforts are on to nab the accused.
In another incident, a 64-year-old man was killed in a tiger attack in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district, an official said on Monday, as reported by PTI.
According to forest ranger Mukesh Ahirwar, the incident occurred under the Manpur range of the reserve on Sunday when the man went into the forest to graze his cattle. When the victim did not return home until the evening, his family members started searching for him and found the body on Monday morning, he said.
After the spot inspection, it was found that the victim died in a tiger attack as the feline’s pug marks were found in the area, the official said.
