In yet another attempt to reach to the common people, Leader of Opposition Party in the Parliament Rahul Gandhi on Thursday met the patients and their families camped on the roads, footpaths and subways outside Delhi AIIMS.

The Member of Parliament talked to the people, who were sitting on the floor with putting on their blankets to beat the chilling cold of Delhi. Rahul Gandhi asked people about their problems and issues pertaining in getting treatment.

He also slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government of showing insensitivity towards the patients.

In a post shared by Rahul Gandhi on social meddia, Instagram, he said, "Illness burden, chilling cold, and government insensitivity - met patients and their families outside AIIMS today, seeking treatment from remote. They're forced to sleep on roads, sidewalks and subways in the path of treatment - even amidst cold ground, hunger, and discomfort just burning a flame of hope." He added that Central and Delhi government, both have failed to fulfil their responsibility towards the public.

Sharing a post about Rahul Gandhi's visit, official X (formerly Twitter) account of Indian National Congress posted, "Leader of Opposition Shri @RahulGandhi met patients and their families outside Delhi AIIMS. People who have come from far away places for treatment are forced to sleep on the roads, footpaths and subways here. The Modi Government and the Delhi Government have left them to their own devices. They have turned their back on their responsibility."

Another post reads, "Waiting for months for treatment, inconvenience and insensitivity of the government – ​​this is the reality of Delhi AIIMS today. The situation is such that people who have come from far-off places bearing the burden of illness of their loved ones are forced to sleep on footpaths and subways in this freezing cold. Today, Leader of Opposition Shri @RahulGandhi met the patients waiting for treatment, talked to them and listened to their problems."

The voting for Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 is scheduled for February 5, and the counting of votes will take place on February 8.
