Delhi's Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Thursday visited the Ghazipur landfill site for inspection. He reviewed the waste disposal situation from the control room and was at the landfill area for about two hours. Following the inspection, he vowed that the Delhi government would remove all the garbage mountains in Delhi just like dinosaurs disappeared.

In an exclusive conversation with ABP News, Sirsa said that the Delhi government has promised that garbage mountains in the national capital will be removed before the year 2030.

After reviewing the waste management system at the Ghazipur landfill site, Sirsa stated that the Ghazipur site spans 70 acres and currently holds about 8.4 million metric tons of waste. He directed Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials that seven to eight thousand metric tons of garbage must be processed daily over the next six months.

So far, only 1.4 to 1.5 million metric tons have been cleared, which means it would take nearly seven more years at the current pace. Therefore, to speed up the process, he has ordered that the contracted company increase its daily processing capacity to 8,000 metric tons within 4 to 5 months, as promised, or face penalties.

He has also instructed officials to engage two companies rather than just one company handling all the waste disposal at Ghazipur and to finalise the tender process and start the work within the next 4 to 5 months. These steps are being undertaken to ensure the garbage mountains in the city re entirely eliminated within the next 4 to 5 years.

Sirsa told ABP News that the Delhi government will now monitor daily waste disposal through a dedicated dashboard to keep track of progress. "We will eliminate these garbage mounds in the next five years just like dinosaurs disappeared. Take a photo now—this landfill will soon be gone," he promised.

Sirsa On CBI Raid At Durgesh Pathak's House

When asked about the CBI visiting AAP leader Durgesh Pathak’s house today, Sirsa said that AAP leaders have engaged in corruption and looted public money, which resulted in these raids.

He further warned corrupt elements in Punjab, saying that "if they don’t change their ways, they’ll meet the same fate as Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Durgesh Pathak."
