A police sub-inspector has been apprehended in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly beheaded with a sword after a dispute over a contested piece of land in the Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.


According to a report by Indian Express, the 2023-batch sub-inspector posted in Meerut, Rajesh Yadav, is also a relative of other suspects linked with the case and was reportedly in frequent contact with the main accused before and after the incident, according to a police officer.



“We have arrested sub-inspector Rajesh Yadav on charges of criminal conspiracy following an inquiry into his connection to the case,” stated Rajaram Dwivedi, station officer of the Gaura Badshahpur police station. Till now total of four people have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Anurag Yadav, also known as Chottu, an intermediate student and taekwondo athlete, was reportedly killed while brushing his teeth outside his home in Kabiruddinpur village.


Police disclosed that the motive was a longstanding land dispute between Anurag's father, Ramjeet Yadav, and their neighbour, Lalta Yadav, one of the six individuals charged in the murder case.


Officials noted that the conflict between the families has persisted for nearly 40 years. Some members of Lalta’s family allegedly went to the disputed land and began clearing it, sparking an objection from Ramjeet’s brother on Tuesday.


An argument broke out, but locals intervened and controlled the situation. However, the next day, Anurag was attacked, allegedly by associates of Lalta Yadav’s family.


9-Year-Old Boy Beheaded In Begusarai


A similar incident came to light from Bihar where a 9-year-old boy was beheaded by a classmate in Barkurwa Dwarikapur Saatha village, Mansoorchak, in Begusarai district on Saturday (September 8), leaving family members and locals in shock.


The decapitated body of the boy was found alongside a bloodied cleaver. The assailant, wielding the cleaver, initially tried to intimidate onlookers but was eventually overpowered by the crowd.


According to a report by Times of India, the victim was identified as Ankush, who was a Class III student. He was lured away from his classmates by Vijay Kumar Mahto before being killed on the outskirts of the village.
