Uttar Pradesh News: In Uttar Pradesh’s Shravasti district, BJP Shravasti District Treasurer Rajesh Gupta allegedly slapped an on-duty policeman and used abusive language. The altercation reportedly took place at the Idgah Tiraha in Bhinga. Rajesh Gupta, the younger brother of BJP leader Rakesh Gupta, is the treasurer of BJP in Shravasti district. He allegedly got furious over being asked to pull his car to the side and slapped an on-duty policeman while using abusive language. A video showing the clash with abusive language has surfaced on social media.
According to ETV Bharat, Bhinga police stated that the incident occurred around 10 pm when Rajesh Gupta, along with his son Jaideep Gupta, was travelling in their car. Their vehicle came to a halt near Idgah Tiraha, causing a scooter behind them to collide with it, leading to a heated argument between the two parties. Police personnel present at the scene intervened, attempting to diffuse the situation. However, Rajesh Gupta and his son allegedly confronted the officers, hurling abuse and assaulting one of them.
Bhinga Circle Officer Santosh Kumar stated, "A dispute broke out between two groups at the Idgah Tiraha. When the policemen on duty arrived at the scene, they were abused and assaulted", as quoted by ETV Bharat's report.

Following a complaint filed by the assaulted policeman, a case was registered against Rajesh Gupta and his son Jaideep. The police have arrested Jaideep Gupta and are investigating the viral video to establish further details of the incident.
In defence, Rajesh Gupta claimed that he was travelling to a petrol pump with his son when they encountered a herd of cows blocking the road. "We parked the Scorpio to clear the cows from the way," Gupta explained. He alleged that two policemen arrived and began misbehaving and abusing them, eventually assaulting his son. "When we tried to save him, the policemen threatened us and behaved even more aggressively," Gupta claimed, as per the report.
