Uttar Pradesh: A 38-year-old journalist was stabbed to death on Wednesday in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district late night on Wednesday, October 30. His friend, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader, also sustained injuries in the attack. As per the preliminary information received by the police, the victim, Dilip Saini, is said to have known the attackers and was allegedly killed over some dispute.

Saini's friend and a leader of the BJP's minority wing, Shahid Khan, was injured when he tried to save him from the attackers. He said that his friend Saini had received a phone call last night after which the attackers came to the place where they were eating and began stabbing the victim.

"We were eating last night with Saini received a phone call. Then they (the attackers) came inside and started stabbing Dilip. When I tried to intervene, they stabbed me too. Shots were also fired. He did not make it," NDTV quoted Khan as saying.

Police stated that Dilip Saini and Shahid Khan were rushed to the district hospital. They were then referred to Kanpur's Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital. However, Dilip Saini succumbed to his injuries, passing away on the way to Kanpur.

Fatehpur police chief Dhawal Jaiswal said the incident took place in Kotwali area, NDTV reported. "Dilip Saini, aged about 38, was stabbed. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Preliminary investigation has found that they all knew each other and some dispute arose.
