Different parts of India are witnessing a troubling rise in the threats issued by people falsely claiming to having ties to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. Recently, a dance teacher from the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh reported such a case. The dance teacher purportedly received a harrowing phone call from a man who claimed to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. During the call, he insulted her with vulgar language and threatened her with rape. The victim filed a complaint with Deputy Superintendent of Police Satyendra Bhushan Tiwari and an investigation is now underway.
Since threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan and politician Baba Siddiqui, Lawrence Bishnoi has been a prominent figure in the media, polarizing public opinion. Some appear to support him, while others condemn him. This wave of notoriety has led to a disturbing trend of people using Bishnoi’s name to issue threats. In the Basti incident, this disturbing trend seemed to continue, with the dance teacher, who is also a YouTuber, being threatened with rape and death.
The caller claimed to have "raped and killed 25 girls" and warned that she could be next. Terrified by repeated calls from five different numbers, the young woman reported the threats to the Superintendent of Police in Basti, requesting immediate action. The Kotwali police station has begun investigating, tracing the numbers, and reviewing call recordings. The phones used to make the threats are now under surveillance.
According to the victim, the caller boasted about committing rape against 25 women and ominously warned her that she might be his next target. She has provided call recordings as evidence and remains deeply shaken by the experience. Seeking protection, she has urged authorities to take immediate action. In response, CO City Satyendra Bhushan Tiwari confirmed that they are tracing the mobile numbers involved and will take appropriate action.
