The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee has removed party leader Yunus Chaudhary from the post of President of the District Congress Committee in Baghpat after a purported video showed him flashing a young woman.
"The allegations levelled against you while you were the President of the District Congress Committee have tarnished the image of the party. Therefore, you are removed from the post," the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee said.
In the viral video, the woman can be heard resisting his attempt. She pleaded with him to stop and said, "Please don't do it...mumma will come…this is wrong…wait a minute…I'm afraid my mom will come."
Chaudhary denied any wrongdoing and claimed the video was edited and part of a political conspiracy against him. Congress State Spokesperson Abhimanyu Tyagi on Saturday told PTI that Yunus Chaudhary has been dismissed from his role as district chief.
"I spoke to State President Ajay Rai, who confirmed that Yunus Chaudhary has been removed from his post as the district president of Baghpat," Tyagi said.
Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai said Chaudhary has been given 24 hours to respond to the allegations. "In view of the allegations that have come against Yunus Chaudhary, he has been removed from the party's Baghpat District President post. he has been given a notice of 24 hours to respond to the allegations against him and failing to do so, we will take action against him. We don't tolerate such things...strict action will be taken," Rai said.
