Politics Heats Up Over Ujjain Rape Video
Jitu Patwari's visit to CM Mohan Yadav's Ujjain residence comes amid the row over the viral video of a woman's rape in the city. The BJP and the Congress are engaged in a bitter battle over the issue. Both BJP and Congress leaders have targeted each other.
Targeting the Mohan Yadav government, the Congress earlier said: "A brutal beast raped a beggar woman in broad daylight, the law and order of the state was completely ruined. Those in power should either die of shame or give up their position."
Jitu Patwari earlier said: "The BJP is protesting across the country against the RG Kar Medical College & Hospital rape and murder incident. A woman was raped in Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav's constituency. Why are Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and PM Narendra Modi silent? There is 'Jungle Raj' in Madhya Pradesh. No one is safe in Madhya Pradesh... The BJP leaders should also look at these kinds of incidents that are happening in MP."
The BJP responded to the Congress's attack, saying that Congress had no issue to raise, hence, they were talking about the rape. Madhya Pradesh BJP chief and MP VD Sharma said: "Jitu Patwari and the Congress have no issue to corner the Madhya Pradesh government. That's why they try to colour such incidents... The BJP government is the first government to introduce a law to give the death penalty to the perpetrators of these kinds of incidents... The accused has been arrested and the state government will ensure that strict action is taken against them."
